BATTLE OF NORTH-117TH ANNUAL CRICKET ENCOUNTER

St John’s College won the 117th Battle of North, beating Jaffna Central College by 10 wickets. It was held in Jaffna Central College grounds on 8th, 9th and 10th of March. Jaffna Central College won the toss and elected to bat first.
Jaffna Central College scored 157 runs in their first innings. S.Sayanthan was the leading scorer in the first innings with 55 runs. The leading bowler was A Kavishan with 5 wickets for 34 runs. In the first innings St John’s College got 228 runs. The leading scorer was the captain Nesakumat Jezial who scored 52 runs. U.Abijoyshanth (39) and Anderson Sachin (40) also helped the team to lead the score of JCC in the first innings.
In the second innings JCC scored 149 runs. Chasing the target of 79 runs St John’s reached the target without losing a wicket. The leading scorer was U.Abijoyshanth with 50* runs.
